Young Mee Kim Jun, Esq., LMSW, Associate Attorney

Young concentrates her practice in the areas of Elder Law, Estate Planning, and Medicaid Planning, and she leads in the firm’s newest service — Care Advocacy. Yeung is a New York State licensed social worker who has dedicated the past 20 years advocating for the rights and quality of life for the elderly with chronic illness and dementia and their caregivers. Her transition to the legal field of Elder Law was a natural one. Young is passionate about protecting the rights of our most vulnerable population and, importantly, caring for the caregivers. Young worked as the director of a community long term care program for over ten years; prior to that position, Young was a director of the social services department for a skilled nursing facility. Her experience with both the institutional and community based long term care systems equipped her with unique knowledge and the ability to understand the inner workings of our complex health care system. Young also volunteered as one of the leaders of a support group for caregivers of dementia patients for many years.

Young Mee Kim Jun earned her JD from New York Law School with a concentration on Elder Law.  She was the president of the NAELA Chapter at New York Law School and facilitated numerous educational programs on various elder care issues. Young was certified as a Court Evaluator and served in that capacity for an Article 81 Guardianship matter while going to law school. She remains certified for appointment as a Court Evaluator under Part 36 of the New York State Unified Court System. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Hunter College of the City of New York and Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from New York University (BSW).

Young is a Member of the New York State Bar Association in the Elder Law and Special Needs Section, and Trust and Estate Section. She is also a Member of the New York Women’s Bar Association in the Elder Law committee, a Member of the New York City Bar Association, and a Member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) New York Chapter.  Additionally, Young is a Member of the Asian American Bar Association of New York.

Young Mee Kim Jun is fluent in Korean.  She and her husband are authentic “foodies”. Young recently discovered the culinary delights of the Hudson Valley, where she is renovating a family home, as family is everything to Young.
