Kathleen M. Citera concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, estate and gift taxation, estate and trust administration, accounting and litigation, family succession planning and charitable giving. Ms. Citera provides counsel on domestic and  international estate planning issues and represents individuals in a wide range of matters, including income, gift, estate and  generation-skipping transfer tax matters and the drafting of wills and trust agreements, including insurance trusts, qualified  personal residence trusts, qualified annuity trusts and charitable split-interest trusts. She has represented clients in administrative proceedings and litigation with the Internal Revenue Service and state tax authorities and before the United States Tax Court.

Ms. Citera is experienced in planning issues associated with closely-held business interests, retirement plan assets and other investments and has assisted clients in family succession planning, structuring asset transfers and minimizing taxes, as well as representing both corporate and individual fiduciaries in connection with the administration of estates and trusts. She represents charitable organizations in the areas of tax reporting, registration and compliance, as well as corporate governance, and has assisted  a number of organizations in the process of becoming or converting to charitable status.

Ms. Citera is the featured author of a chapter on Strategies for Trusts and Estates in New York in the Inside the Minds series published by Aspatore Books.

Ms. Citera is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, where she received her JD, and New York University, where she  received her Masters of Law in Taxation, and is admitted to the Bar in New York and Florida. This gives her the unique opportunity to serve her snowbird clients and those that have assets in both states. Ms. Citera is also admitted to the U.S. Tax Court.

Kathleen M. Citera is an active member of the New York State Bar Association, serving in the following Sections: Trusts and Estates  Law, Tax Law, and Elder Law. She is also a member of the Florida Bar Association, serving in their Section on Real Property,  Probate and Trust Law, and is a member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
